I have often been asked as to whats involved in the manufacturing of copper bars. So here is a brief rundown on how its done. When we make them it is done in four stages:
1. I purchase the copper. We buy busbar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Busbar) in 99.9% purity.
2. I cut the busbar in the required lengths so that we have just over a kilo in weight. It is important to be a little over due to the fact that polishing the bar reduces the weight. Here is a great online calculator for helping you get your calculations correct: www.jindalstainless.com/toolkit/weight-calculator.html
3.I stamp the copper with the custom made stamps that I had made for me.
4. I send the copper off to the polishers to get polished. This makes the bars mirror shiny. I also get the polisher to put a clear lacquer over the bar to stop tarnishing.
The pictures below are of my stamps and bars.
